Good blower door test results for wood panel house that is combained with CLT built by ZTC in The Netherlands

CLT prefab house combained with regular timber stud panels built by ZTC in the Netherlands was tested with blower door test in mid November. The building has met the demands of the municipality of Amsterdam. Moreover the indicators meet the status of an energy efficient building. We are satisfied with the result N50 = 0,93.

Blower Door technology is a globally recognized and widely used building density testing methodology. This technology allows measuring the fire resistance of a building and identifying specific defect locations in structures. Determining the density of a building is a convenient tool for assessing the energy efficiency of a building as well as its compliance with the requirements of the construction standard. Determining the amount of air entering, you can find out how well the building envelope is constructed. Also estimate the heat loss caused by defects.

Blower door test procedure

During the measurement process, the airflow is determined at a certain pressure difference caused by the calibrated fan. The air flow rate (m³ / h) is determined using a pressure difference of 50 Pa. The difference in the air exchange ratio at 50 Pa is determined by the amount of airflow in the measuring process divided by the internal air volume of the building.
