In September 2020 ZTC completed works on a 2,5 storey house extension in Oslo, Norway. The building with a 150 m2 floor area was built with a classic vertical wooden board-on-board siding to fit with the existing building on the site.
ZTC panels with nature friendly materials and solutions were used for the project. The panels ensure a more stable temperature and air humidity throughout the day. Wall panels were delivered with an open service area and vertical siding boards added on site. The top floor balcony of the house extension is suspended in metal suspenders custom designed and manufactured for this project.
ZTC prepared the construction designs, produced the building set and delivered it to site. On site ZTC team installed the house elements and did exterior siding. The client organized foundation works, roofing works, window and door installation and interior works.
We extended our old house with about 45 m2 on each of the three floors. Our choice was ZTC, given the good recommendations from our architect and quality of the material ZTC selects. Our evaluation on the process:
Quality of Material – excellent choice of materials for e.g. isolation, breathing. The blower test confirmed the excellent work.
Construction team – the team was highly motivated, hard working, performed excellent work with high accuracy
Speed of set-up – within 4 days the building was raised, and protected for rain
Change of plans – A non-discovered failure in the drawings led to a mismatch with one of the windows. Excellent solution suggested by ZTC and implemented
Special wishes, e.g. the hanging balcony, were enabled through a good dialogue and supported by excellent drawings
Information exchange – has a high potential for advancements. Specific time-lines, specifications for the requirements to be provided by us, as well as information for custom control came late and were insufficient. Potential of ordering with pre-fabrication of electricity and pipes could have been mentioned prior to construction work.
Given the excellent construction and the quality of the house, we can highly recommend to engage ZTC. Especially the short construction time of just 4 days for a tight house is a real advantage.
